On February 1st, the 49th Super Bowl will be played between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks. Both teams are the number one seed in their respective divisions and both teams have high aspirations after making it this far. Neither team will have home team advantage as the actual game will be played in Glendale, Arizona, so the winner will have to rely on pure skill, determination, and a little bit of luck. Many have conducted thorough research to find out who will be on top and walk away victorious. Let us walk through this journey of football together and see who will lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy for their team and state.
From the AFC, the American Football Conference, the Patriots will try and bring glory to New England for a 4th time. Not having won a Super Bowl title in a little over a decade despite having great players such as Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, LeGarrette Blount and an amazing coach in Bill Belichick, the Patriots will definitely be hoping for a win this year. Things are looking good for them, too, seeing that they just annihilated the Indianapolis Colts, 45-7. An all around solid, championship quality team, they will be a tough match. They've played great all season and even better in the playoffs. They're hungry for another title and they have the players that can win it all for them. A truly marvelous and complete team, the Patriots are definitely a strong contender.
No matter how strong the chances are for the Patriots, the Seahawks could rise above it all. The Seahawks are not exactly an underdog, seeing as they are the current Super Bowl Champions, but they still aren't exactly the sure fire fan favorite. In their last game against the Broncos, they just barely won, with a great comeback. While everybody loves a comeback story, it is not necessarily the mark of a Super Bowl winning team, especially against the Patriots. Despite that, they are still a strong team overall. Their “legion of boom”, the nickname for their iron defense, can surely hold off Tom Brady and the Patriots dominant offensive play style. Furthermore, the Seahawks have quality players like Kam Chancellor, Marshawn Lynch, and Russell Wilson. With all their players working together, they have great chemistry, and they may just give the Pats a run for their money.
So who is going to reign victorious? On one hand, the Patriots are a bit on the older side but have great experience. Tom Brady, 37, will know what to do for different situations, and his experience can guide his team to victory. Unfortunately, football is not an old man's game due to its demanding physical nature. The Seahawks, on the other hand, are young, energetic and hungry for victory. They might not know what to do in every situation, but they are ready to give it their all, which is more than what the aged Patriots can do. I predict the final score will be 20-14, with the Seahawks winning a second Super Bowl Title in two years.
But nobody can be for certain until the actual game day. So for now, let us enjoy the hype of Super Bowl commercials and the eventual winner of the title and discounted snack items. Happy watching to all and let's hope your favorite team wins.
