“THE BUBBLE”: of or referring to the imaginary borders, both geographically and demographically, of La Cañada. Life in "the bubble" encompasses physically about ten blocks of shops, schools, churches and a variety of places where one can dine, and nothing else. Some of us find it hard to believe that there is a lot to be learned beyond what we experience along Foothill Blvd.
“STARBS”: of or referring to the fact that some people can survive for days on a diet primarily of ground beans, whipped cream and artificial sweetener on ice. C’mon now, how many times have you come back from lunch and wondered about this?
“MEET ME AT EMILE”: of or referring to the prescription for boredom exercised by those with a license, a car or a skateboard on hand. Even with the extensive amount of gas stations available on Foothill Blvd, for some unknown reason we choose to meet up at the most expensive one to hatch plans together!
“LC MOM”: of or referring to the post-minivan driving soccer moms. These mothers drive Range Rovers or another late model SUV and are identified by the manner in which they hold up the car line in front of the office. Warning, these moms are fierce and they may or may not be hungry for any gossip they can get their claws on. Beware of speeding suburbans en route to Flintridge Proper!
