Mr. Nate Fulmer, the newest addition to our faculty, brings a fresh face and outlook to the science department this year. After filling in for Mrs. Walsh during her maternity leave last year, he was hired back full-time to teach General and Honors Physics.
Mr. Fulmer spent his childhood in the suburbs of Chicago, dreaming of becoming an astronaut. Later on in his life, he moved to Los Angeles to complete his bachelor’s degree in physics at USC, where he became more interested in teaching.
Mr. Fulmer’s method of teaching and working with students is youthful and refreshing. In class, he uses references to pop culture and media in his lectures and plays music in the background when he gives students time to work. His wardrobe is noteworthy and trendy; he dresses in skinny jeans, Vans, and brightly colored button-down shirts, accessorizing with ties and the occasional pair of suspenders.
In his free time, he likes to travel. He has been to fourteen different countries and speaks nearly fluent Chinese (which was displayed in the new mascot video).
Mr. Fulmer can’t wait to teach and make memories this year at La Cañada High School.
Regarding the coming year, he said, “I’m really excited. The students are wonderful and the faculty is supportive and a great team to work with. [La Cañada] is definitely a community I want to invest myself in.”
Our staff's creativity oozes onto the Features pages as we report on the cultural, the personal, and the life-changing.
