Attention Spartans, we’d like you all to meet Mrs. Esther Rogers, one of our newest counselors! She is assigned to students with last names M-Pa. Rogers has recently moved from Alabama to work at our campus, and she enthusiastically voiced her reasons for the new change. “LCHS is part of a strong school district with a forward-thinking mindset. I also appreciate that this school focuses on how we can do things instead of how we can’t.” she says. “Everybody here has very impressive work ethics and perseverance.”
Rogers grew up in Michigan and attended Central Michigan University for undergraduate education, where she double majored in Psychology and Family Studies. She later graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham with a Masters in Arts in Secondary Education, School Counseling, and Education and Leadership. Rogers initially wanted to be a psychologist, but after volunteering to help students, she became interested in school counseling. “I find the interaction to be both fascinating and rewarding.” she explained.
When asked how she was enjoying LCHS, she said, “So far, I love it! Everyone has been extremely nice. People often refer to Southern hospitality, but West Coast hospitality should be just as well-known.”
Rogers also shared that students have stopped by her office to introduce themselves, which she greatly appreciates. “As a counselor, our goal is to get to know students personally rather than just seeing them as clients who need help.” she said.
Aside from being a travel enthusiast and her daughter’s chauffeur, Rogers dearly loves her 2 dogs and admits to being a reality TV junkie. She is extremely excited to be a part of the Spartan family and looks forward to attending our school events. Although Mrs. Rogers is assigned to last names M-Pa, she is more than happy to help everyone in need of assistance!
