If there is one phrase that comes to mind after watching the this year’s senior video, it’s probably, “Wow, that was actually decent this year.” Not to heckle the previous senior videos, but there was a new level of quality to the 2015-2016 senior videos that was unprecedented.
The senior video is a tradition that has been passed down from every senior class to the next. The themes for the senior video are usually derived from hit movies or television shows. Last year’s theme was “Twilight,” the movie series based on the novels written by Stephenie Meyer. This year, the theme is “High School Musical,” the hit movie series featuring Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens. The theme was chosen by the three assembly commissioners: seniors Jesse Landesman, Lauren Shilling, and Mikey Selsor.
This year, seniors Cameron Leewong and Shahin Ansari are in charge of editing and filming these videos. When the Spartan asked them about the production time, Cameron said, “The filming and editing took about a week in total.” Shahin added that the filming took a little over two days.
The dynamic duo took the task of editing these videos as they both have an interest in cinematography.
“I wanted to improve and excercise my filmmaking skills, plus it sounded really fun,” Cameron said.
When asked about the plot line of the senior videos, Cameron replied that while they do have a general idea, the details are dealt with video-by-video.
Lastly when the Spartan asked if there was a surprise in the finale of this year’s senior video, Cameron replied, “No comment on the surprise,” with a little smirk.
If you happen to miss any of the videos or simply want to rewatch them, go to youtube and type in “Assembly Commissioners” to find the videos uploaded online.
