It’s start of another new school year, and for those of you who are in search for volunteering opportunities and a way to make new friends, look no more because we have just the club for you!
Maryvale’s Helping Hands, a volunteer-based club in LCHS, is run by senior Alyce Cho, is an organization based in Rosemead that supports neglected and orphaned children around community. Currently, the organization helps abused young children with mental health service and foster child care.
Maryvale’s Helping Hands’s purpose is to raise money for Maryvale Orphanage and try to meet with young girls who live there.
“We’ve had a lot of fundraising events, like a bake sale in Montrose and restaurant fundraiser nights. We have also made Christmas goody bags for the girls. Although it’s hard to meet the girls, we try our bests to provide the girls with some of the luxuries that we take for granted,” said Alyce Cho.
Maryvale’s Helping Hands vice-president Melody Wang also commented, “The club is a really good opportunity to help orphans. Everyone gets along, and we’re welcoming towards new members. The activities are fun to participate in, and it feels good to help people out.”
If you are interested in making new friends and helping out Maryvale Orphanage by fundraising, sign up at the booth during Club Day or directly contact Alyce Cho (email@example.com)! For more information about Maryvale Orphanage, go to www.maryvale.org.
Our staff's creativity oozes onto the Features pages as we report on the cultural, the personal, and the life-changing.
