La Cañada Spartans can now look forward to watching television commercials featuring rising actress Candyce Ha, the most modest, benevolent, and friendly person you’ll find in the hallways.
Candyce started acting classes at 321 Acting Studios during her sophomore year to relieve the stress that comes from all the pressures of high school. She touched up her acting skills for only one year before she applied for a showcase to find an agent. She had to perform two acts in front of an agent in order to gain representation from a talent agency. Although she failed her first audition, she was determined to succeed. She continued to work on her acting and, after a six month break, auditioned again. Not giving up after her initial failure proved to be beneficial; Candyce got a call from an agent two weeks after her second audition.
Candyce and her agent signed a contract with First Class Talent Agency, who took headshots in order to send her profile to agencies. Some directors contact their agents in order to have special actors/actresses to be in a scene. A month after signing with the agency, her agent signed her up to audition for a commercial. It would require three auditions and surviving cuts of 100 people.
“I was having dinner with my friends at a restaurant in Montrose when I received a call from my agent saying that I got the part in the commercial. My mind went black because I couldn’t believe it. I called my mom right away and screamed with her in excitement,” Candyce recalled when asked to describe her reaction to receiving a part in a commercial.
On October 1st, Candyce met with her commercial crew at Siren Studios in Hollywood to do a wardrobe fitting. Nine days later, on October 10th, Candyce’s dream came true as she filmed her commercial for CiCi’ Pizza. As a member in a marching band for her commercial, Candyce marched for 9-10 hours at Sirens Studios.
“Everything was so new and exciting because it was my first commercial. I had no idea what to do. But, luckily I had a great crew, director, and cast members, so I ended up having one of the best days of my life,” Candyce said. La Cañada High School is extremely proud of Candyce’s efforts and hopes to find her in every channel we glimpse on television.
