The pilot for the comedy-horror series “Scream Queens” came out on September 22, 2015, giving viewers a fresh slice of a hilarious, murderous scandal.
Emma Roberts stars as Chanel Oberlin, the sorority leader of Kappa Kappa Tau, a deceitful and cut-throat sorority queen. The other main character so far is Grace Gardener (Skyler Samuels), a new student at Wallace University who wants to follow in her mother’s footsteps and join Kappa Kappa Tau.
The episode begins with a flashback from twenty years ago, the scene of a college party, where one of the sorority girls is dying in a bathtub, due to an unexpected childbirth. The other members of the sorority don’t know what to do, so they leave her and go back to the party. One of the girls stays, and holds the baby while she unexpectedly dies.
In the present day, it’s the first day of college and Grace Gardener is driving with her ridiculously overprotective father to Wallace. There Grace meets and befriends Zayday Williams (Keke Palmer). She explains to Zayday about how much she wants to join Kappa, but Zayday tells her it’s a bad idea. In the end, Zayday is convinced, and she and Grace start off Rush Week at their first pledge party.
The episode continues, and the action really heats up when a person in a devil’s suit shows up in one of the sorority sisters’ rooms, and stabs her in the back while she tweets about the incident. The killer makes a second appearance when he runs over a pledge with a lawnmower, decapitating her. The police and Dean Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) are on the hunt for the mysterious killer, looking for anyone who could be eliminated as a suspect.
I admire this show because it is the perfect combination of comedy and horror. Chanel accidentally kills the maid of the house, and the girls are forced to keep the secret or else Chanel could go to jail. The girls are oblivious to how mean Chanel is being and view Chanel as royalty, so all the flaws that Chanel has and all the murders she commits are ignored. The sorority sisters are all covering up murders that they are guilty for and there are plenty of funny jokes to make you laugh during the episodes. This show is extremely amusing and will definitely make you laugh.
